The Basics of Slide
Copying using ShotCopy
Step One -
Copying the Slide
Shoot a picture of the slide using
ShotCopy to hold the image steady in front of the lens of your digital
camera. Your camera will have to have the ability to macro-focus to
within one inch of the lens to copy a 35mm size film image. Here is
were the pixel resolution of your camera will determine what you can
do with the resulting image. If you plan to view the images on a
PC, a 1.5 mega pixel camera will give good results. If you are planning
on making prints greater than snapshot size you might want to consider
a much higher pixel resolution for your camera.
Step Two -
Crop the Picture
Crop the picture to the size you desire
using your PC's photo editing software (Microsoft PhotoDraw, Jasc
Paint Shop Pro, etc.)
Step Three
- Rotate to Vertical
Using your photo editing software, rotate
the image to the vertical position.
Step Four
- Cleanup
With your PC's photo editing software
remove dust spots, sharpen the image, adjust brightness & contrast
and you are done!
Your picture is ready to be saved and emailed around the world for
friends and family to enjoy. Or make a CD-ROM photo album that you can
copy and share with others and future generations.
If you are in the market for a new digital camera make sure it can easily
focus to within one inch of the camera lens. Also, try to get the
greatest camera pixel resolution you can afford for the best results
in copying slides, negatives and prints with ShotCopy.
Remember that no camera can produce great pictures form poorly exposed
film.
By digitizing your film images using ShotCopy you will end the deterioration of your
precious memories.
